A Passion for Stones
Mr. Hofmann senior was already in the diamond business, but has always been fascinated by colored stones. Over the years, he has collected a fine selection of cut colored stones, as well as many rough ones. As a lover of stones, he had them cut to bring out their full brilliance, with the result that the collection, part of which can be seen on Caratdiamond.ch, consists of unique stones, each with its own special characteristics. The vast majority of these stones are natural, unheated and untreated.
As for David Hofmann, he fell into it as a child, and has always been fascinated by stones and the jewels the earth has to offer. As he sees himself in the profession, he first studied business in the Swiss agricultural sector, then spent two years studying gemmology in Thailand (AIGS and GIA diplomas).
Sabine, not coming from this background at all, was quickly fascinated by the natural beauty of stones. There's a certain energy in them that even the most down-to-earth people can feel - who hasn't picked up pebbles on the beach? Indeed, stones generate emotions, and customers are not insensitive to them: there's much more to a stone than its beauty. So, driven by this passion, she gives up her spare time alongside her job at 100% to coordinate marketing around the brand.
AKHAL - The name
David and Sabine are both passionate about horses, and it was horses that brought them together. So when they were looking for a name for their new invention, they opted for this link with their shared passion. Akhal is an ancient and pure breed of horse, Akhal Téké, often referred to as the most beautiful horses in the world, with an iridescent coating that shines like gold in the sun.
In their homeland, they are revered as an integral part of nomadic families, so close to their master that they have a place in the family yurt. A national festival honoring the Akhal Téké is held 1x a year in ... The horse is presented in all its guises, with races, dressage presentations, beauty contests, etc. The horses themselves are dressed in magnificent carpets and jewelry.
