    The Passion for Stones

Mr. Hofmann Sr. was already immersed in this dazzling world, working primarily in diamonds but always fascinated by colored gemstones. Over time, he amassed a fine collection of cut colored stones, as well as many rough ones. A true gem enthusiast, he had them cut to bring out their full brilliance. As a result, the collection, part of which can be seen on Caratdiamond.ch, consists of unique stones, each with its own distinct characteristics. The vast majority of these stones are natural, unheated, and untreated.

David Hofmann, for his part, fell into it as a child; he has always been amazed by stones and fascinated by the jewelry that the earth can offer. As he wanted to be in the profession, he first studied commerce related to the Swiss agricultural sector, then undertook his gemology studies in Thailand for two years (Diploma by the AIGS and by the GIA).

Sabine, who came from no background in this field, was quickly captivated by the natural beauty of stones. She senses a certain energy in them that even the most down-to-earth can feel; who hasn't collected pebbles on the beach? Indeed, stones evoke emotions, and customers are not immune to this; there is much more to a stone than its beauty. Driven by this passion, she dedicates her free time, alongside her full-time job, to coordinating the brand's marketing.

    AKHAL - The name

David and Sabine are both passionate about horses; in fact, it was horses that brought them together. So, when they were looking for a name for their new invention, they chose this connection to their shared passion. Akhal is a breed of horse, Akhal-Teke. This breed is very old and pure, often said to be the most beautiful horses in the world, with the distinctive feature of having an iridescent coat that shines like gold in the sun.

In their homeland, they are revered and are an integral part of nomadic families, very close to their owners, to the point that they have their own place in the family yurt. A national festival honoring the Akhal-Teke takes place once a year in… The horse is showcased in all its glory with races, dressage demonstrations, beauty contests, etc… the horses themselves are adorned with magnificent rugs and jewelry.
